Sobrato House Youth Center

Sobrato House - Youth Center
EHC LifeBuilders, established 25 years ago, provides housing and support services to a myriad of homeless individuals and families through out Santa Clara County, with thousands being assisted annually. EHC has operated a youth drop-in center and shelter in downtown San Jose for the past 17 years that was required to relocate to make way for the new city hall. Staff at Charities Housing have provided development consulting services to EHC for 10 years and was most recently hired to provide development consulting services primarily during the construction phase of the shelter relocation project.

The Sobrato House Youth Center is located on a 19,000 square foot site that includes an underground parking garage, 13,500 square feet of new construction and the relocation and renovation of a 2,500 square foot historical structure. The residential component includes nine apartment units and ten shelter beds in a dormitory setting. The balance of the development includes a drop-in center, community room, bath and shower rooms, laundry, kitchen and dining area, and staff and administrative offices. The total estimated project costs are $14,500,000.
