Charities Housing acquired Sunset Square Apartments, a 96-unit complex located in the City of San Jose, with financing from Citibank and Catholic Charities in March 2001. The development is located immediately west of the Eastside Neighborhood Center owned by Catholic Charities. This development has a mix of studio, one, two, and three bedroom units and serves low-income families. The property underwent an extensive rehabilitation in 2002-03. The property was fully occupied at the time of acquisition; existing low-income tenants were able to stay in-place and have their living environment significantly upgraded. Tenants at the property are offered services from Catholic Charities including employment training, English as second language, IDA (individual development account), and case management as necessary.
